Visit Dominican Cigar Factories – The Ultimate Guide

Hello Cigar Amateur, Cigar Aficionado,

I have decided to take you on a journey through the beautiful and fascinating world of cigar making — from the green tobacco fields to the hands that craft each hand-rolled masterpiece.

Maybe you have been smoking cigars for one year, five, ten, twenty, or even fifty years. You have probably heard countless stories about people visiting cigar factories in the Dominican Republic, walking through the legendary streets of Santiago de los Caballeros, the beating heart of the cigar world…

But here’s the truth — you don’t really know where to begin, how to organize your visit, or how to make it truly unforgettable. 🌴💨

That is where I come in. I will help you experience the Dominican cigar world like an insider — from the best cigar tours and boutique factories to the local artisans who still roll each cigar with passion and tradition.

Get ready to feel, taste, and live cigars in a way you never have before. ✨

My name is Pacual. For more than 5 years, I have been travelling back and forth in Santiago, Dominican Republic, visiting cigar factories, learning about cigar and sharing my experience with smokers like you. This guide will be a mix of posts with different topics. So, let’s start with the steps to follow before travelling to Dominican Republic. 🌴💨

REGARDING THE PASSPORT

You should know that a passport is required to enter the Dominican Republic. However, for legal residents of one of the following countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom or Schengen area, a visa is not required if you are staying less than 3 months. Please note that if you stay more than a month, you will have to pay a
departure tax proportional to the total duration of your stay. In 2022, I stayed 2 and a half months in the Dominican Republic and I paid a tax of 2,500 pesos ($50) when I went through customs.

Also do not forget to fill your E-ticket before arrival and before departure. ATTENTION: if you forget, you can still do it at the Dominican airport but I would not recommend 🙂

TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE WEATHER

When choosing your dates, consider the tropical climate of the Dominican Republic. In fact, it is not recommended to leave during the months of October and November, a period when rain and wind are
omnipresent.

For information: if you want the minimum amount of rain, it is advisable to go between December and April because it is the dry period. If a little rain doesn’t bother you, you can also go between April and September.
Finally, if you want to see tobacco farms, you have to go between November and the end of May.
